We're not sure what this gentleman's enquiry was, but it must be important, as he'd arrived before 9am, at the old Council Welfare Offices, in Montrose Street. I must admit, that 'Laboratory Specimens Only' sign is a little bit disconcerting!
Chances are, as it's 1958, the chap was asking for his Tuberculosis test results. The city had begun mass TB screenings in the 1950s, to try to wipe out the disease.
Today, the council's Montrose Street offices, part of the City Chambers complex, have a happier air, and are used for civil marriage ceremonies.
